More SPS students attending college after graduation | Schools
Press Release - Efforts to promote a college-going culture are paying off. Information from The BERC Group’s College Tracking Data Services shows that the number of SPS students going to either a two-year or four-year college in the year after graduating from high school has increased by about 12 percent since 2004. The most recent data, for the class of 2009, shows that 64.2 percent attended college right after graduation. Throughout the state of Washington, 59.4 percent of the class of 2009 went directly on to college. “At every high school, the expectation now is that all students will graduate with the skills to succeed in college or get a good job,” said Superintendent Nancy Stowell. The BERC Group is an independent evaluation, research and consulting firm that uses data from the non-profit National Student Clearinghouse.
