Mama Goat Gives Birth to Four at Morning Star Boys Ranch | Community Spirit
A mama goat gave birth to a surprising four kids on Monday at the Morning Star Boys Ranch on Spokane's South Hill. The experience is captivating the young men who call the ranch home.
Goats typical only give birth to one or two kids, so it was exciting when the Boer goat, Angelina, gave birth to four. As of now, mama goat and the kids are doing well, but Morning Star says that the next 48 hours are crucial.
Morning Star has an active 4-H chapter on campus that breeds and shows goats. Last year, a Morning Star boy took Reserve Grand Champion for doelings, female goats, at the Interstate Fair. The boys at the ranch have been helping with the new kids and Ron Irwin, Communications Director for the Ranch, says that they are “captivated” by the new experience.
“We would like the public to help us name the newborns,” says Irwin, “If folks would go to our Facebook page and suggest up to four names; a committee of boys from the Ranch will choose from those suggestions in the next week or two.”
The baby kids are a perfect fit for Morning Star, as it has been determined that all four of them are male. Visit Morning Star's Facebook page to help the boys name the new additions.
