UGM invites community to Crisis Shelter Open House | Community Spirit
East Sprague in Spokane isn’t know for being a place where lives are re-built. But for the women who stay at the Union Gospel Mission’s Crisis Shelter, East Sprague is where hope begins, and they want you to come and see why.
The Union Gospel Mission is gearing up for a capital campaign to rebuild the Crisis Shelter for Women & Children, and they want you to come and check out why at an Open House on Thursday, May 1st. Seven years ago an old Budget Save Motel built in the 1950s was repurposed into the shelter. Over 10,000 women have turned to the shelter for help, and now it’s worn out and bursting at the seams.
Lesa Gibbs was dropped off at the Crisis Shelter by her in 2012 and wrote about her first impressions and experiences on the day she entered the shelter. You can read her story HERE.
UGM is also hosting nationally known comedian Michael Jr. at the Fox Theater on May 23rd as a fundraiser. For more information on the show click HERE.
