The Christmas presents are unwrapped and now that there’s nothing waiting under the tree it’s time to take it down. While there’s a few options for disposing of your tree, the Ferris High School Senior All Nighter would like to help you clean up after the holidays by recycling your tree for you.

Christmas Tree Recycling has been a fundraising tradition at Ferris for many years. Ferris students and parent volunteers pick up trees for a minimum donation of $10. If you’re willing to drop your tree off at Ferris the donation requirement is $5.

The Senior All Nighter provides an alcohol and drug free celebration for graduating class and relies on parent led fundraisers. In the past the Christmas Tree Recycling event has been a big moneymaker for the all nighter, but as more and more people make the switch to artificial trees the event has tapered off.

In 2011, the fundraiser brought in $4,000, but just a year later the profits dropped by half. Fundraiser organizer and Ferris parent Craig Wendt is hoping people will consider them for tree despite other free options. Right now, Wendt says they are booked for tree pick up, but will be collecting trees at the Ferris parking lot on 39th and Regal.

You drop off your tree at Ferris High School December 28-29 and January 4-5 from 10am to 4pm. Sunshine Recycling has donated recycling bins and will mulch the trees. Minimum donation for drop off trees is $5.
